Art Class Offerings
Black Belt Treasures Guild Members at the Associate Level or above are eligible for a 10% discount on class registrations.
For adults (ages 16 and up):
Ceramic Garden Art - Saturday morning, TBA July from 10am – 12:30pm…$45 (includes materials)
Choose from creating a bird house, bird bath, wall pocket, or toad house (or design a project of your own) during this one day workshop. At the end of the day, you will choose the glaze color – finished art will be available for pickup the first week of June. Instructor – Kristin Law
Pottery Open House - Monday evening, June 28 from 5-7pm…no charge to attend, $10 to make a piece
local artist Kristin Law will be offering a Pottery Open House. This is a great opportunity to find out more about ceramics & pottery, talk to the instructor and current students, and even try your hand at this fun and exciting art.
Nights of Clay - Monday evenings, June 21 & 28, July 12, 19 & 26 from 6-9pm
$50 for 2 weeks, $80 for 4 weeks, $120 for 6 weeks (cost includes first 25lbs of clay + firing)
Choose from taking two, four, or six classes! Enjoy a fun and casual introduction to clay, starting with sculpting and hand-building and concluding with decorating, glazing and firing. A great class for the beginner to intermediate artist. Instructor – Kristin Law
ArtEscape - Friday, June 25 from 6-8:30pm...$35 (includes materials)
Instructor Emilie Oglesby, of Monroeville’s The Hole in the Wall Art Gallery and Studio, will guide you in creating an original acrylic painting using brushes or palette knives – or both.
Chair Caning - Saturday, June 19 from 10am – 2pm…$40 (includes materials)
Instructor Joyce Huizinga greatly enjoys passing on this heritage art to new students. Students will choose the appropriate pattern, technique and process to complete their caning project – please bring a chair to cane (or request a stool kit at registration).
For Teens:
Art Scene (ages 15 and older) – Thursday, June 24 from 6-8pm…$22 (includes materials)
School is out - it's time to get creative. Enjoy an evening of painting with your friends. All supplies are included in the price of the class. Instructor – Emilie Oglesby
Pizza & Pottery (ages 13 and older) – Friday, TBA from 7-10pm…$35 (includes materials)
Get together with your friends, make new ones & enjoy pizza and snacks while creating a sculpture or pottery project. Instructor – Kristin Law
For Youth to Teen:
Art Zone – Friday, June 26 times listed below by 2010-11 grade level…$22 (includes materials)
Art instructor Emilie Oglesby will introduce students to innovative mixed media and painting projects, designed to inspire young artists to create on their own. All supplies are included in the price of the class.
1st and 2nd grades - 11 am to 12:15 pm
3rd and 4th grades - 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm
5th and 6th grades - 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm
7th and 8th grades - 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm

Hands In Clay – Saturday, TBA from 10am – noon…$20 (includes materials)
What better way to spend the morning than creating an heirloom treasure in the mommy and baby class (or father and son, granny and grandson, etc…). Capture your little one’s hand or footprint in clay, and then make it into a keepsake tile or wall hanging.
